hello
Can any one tell me if the 5 door Freelander (53) rear parcel shelf / roll out cover ,is the same as the 3 door ? they seem hard to come Buy and I don't want to get the wrong one ,as seeing she who lets me wear the trousers is paying for it .i know they come in hard case form or material e.g.roll out ,any info would help,
The car never had one when I got it so I have no knowledge of what im looking for ,,,different clips,connectors ,or catches thanks in advance.

I've only seen the material roll out ones for the 5 door and hard ones for the 3 door - would make sence cos a material one would flap around with the top off. I might be wrong though.

I think you're right, GrumpyGel. I've seen the hard shelf for the 3-door on eBay - there's one now for a hundred quid. A genuine one from Rimmer Bros is over £400.
I reckon a bit of plywood and some leathercloth might make one for about a fiver, which is what I intend to do.

Didn't know they were that much, I left one at the scrappies as mines a 5 door and it looked too big, should have got it for eBay

I like the ply and fabric route,£400 I say £400 blimey does someone drive out and lift the shelf up for ya!!
Maybe I will try and find out what catches / locks I need thank again

The 3 door cover is designed to add some physical security to the luggage area when the roof is off, there are locking kits available too. Obviously this isn't an issue with the 5 door, hence the roller blind affair, keeping contents out of sight instead.

Thank you Nodge68 for the info ,as I Cannot ever see me taking the roof off I was wondering does the 5 door roller cover/ shelf ,come anywhere near fitting the 3 door rear or even with a bit of jiggery just need it as you say to keep prying eyes out I still have the fitting clips(springy horse shoe affairs) on the back of the rear seats / panels as most of us don't want to waste money I don't want to buy something that will sit in the shed till the end of time.
