Workshop manual discusses having the weight on the wheels before torquing up bolts with bushes in. But what about the a-frame ball joint? Do i torque this up with weight on the chassis, or axles?

Also, no way to get a socket on the nut, so how do you torque it? Just to 'feel'?

Let it down onto the wheels and bounce it up and down a few times, then tighten the bush bolts.
Balljoint nut can be tightened anytime, just pull it as tight as you can with a spanner.

Some people seem to be able to get sockets on theirs, but mine won't let me because the axle casing itself is in the way. The mechanical work is done by the tapered bits, the nut just holds them together.
