going up to ely saturday afternoon (possibly staying over the night )and would like to do some lanes while im there (sat or sun)as there any seems to be a few long byways there so does anyone fancy coming along? or if any one could give me some info on them that would be great, the grid ref is TL411821 where i was looking near sutton

thanks mark

Ah ha! i work in ely and have done some out there at lunch this week, its bloody wet in places. There are big groups of lanes that have TRO's on them. I'd come along, sundays probably better for me, but can do sat if needed.

The lanes to the south of ely, seem to be seasonal but the ones to the north seem to still be open. had a look on the online definitive map the other night to make doubly sure.

How much around ely is drivable? Enough to make a day out of it? Us lot in Herts woudl gladly take a day out driving up there but last time we went it alone we found a whole lot closed so kinda gave up the ghost.

I shall pop out and do a quick recce at lunch tomorrow if i get chance to see what is open. I've done 6 or 7 lanes this week so far.

that sounds good, will try find out what has tro's on them, think i might find a b&b in the area and stop over so can do sunday, so you fancy doing a few sunday b3aker?

Ok, The current plan, I think. To get to Gt Yarmouth From Ely using as many Lanes as possible!

Had a look, and it is possible, to do touching very little tarmac, assuming most lanes are open.

Any other takers?

Ryder, are you interested in joining us tomorrow?

Meeting at the BP on the brampton hut roundabout A1/A14 junc at half 9.

Ok, so I'm back home. Thank you mark for a most enjoyable day. Way too many lanes to do in one day.

Shall Have to organize a Herts Outing that way, the idea was to end up by the seaside, Too many lanes and not enough time!

sounds like that would be a brilliant day out, will def have to sort that out,how long was you out for and how many lanes did you do?

We hit the first lane at about 10:15 and did 8 befor lunch at 12:30 and then missed a load that we were going to do to get to Thetford to do the forest lanes, took about 3 hours to do a 3 of those then headed home at about 4:30ish
