Just been failed on MOT because of:

Nearside and Offside main front to back brake pipes excessively corroded.


I thought these were stainless steel and did not corrode.

Anyone answer this please.

mild steel as far as i know.
i always replace with kunifer copper ones.

thanks ormus but should they not corrode the standard ones?
Or is the examiner trying it on?

9 yrs old? seems about right for a new set of brake pipes.

anyways its a small price to pay for peace of mind eh?
its certainly one area of the landy where it just doesnt pay to cut corners.

Yea, Disco was a bit spongey on the brakes month or two ago, the pipe connection which sits on the chassis at the back was ruined, sorted it for about £10, going to do the entire system ASAP.

i agree with ormus, get kunifer replacements they will last for years.i have never seen any vehicle with stainless brake pipes, only motorbikes with stainles braided hoses.
