My 1994 Classic Range Rover on an ‘M’ plate is the very last factory fitted with 200TDI Land Rover Engine and manual gear box. It has now been diagnosed with a blown Head Gasket, (carried out the smoke test) best result is a new Head Gasket. Worst result is a cracked block. Million dollar question, can I drop any 200TDI engine (assuming it’s manual) into my Range Rover? Oh it’s factory fitted Air Con. Will a Discovery 200TDI donor engine drop straight in?

You would be very unlucky if it needed more than a head gasket - very tough engine,fix it and spend more years trying to wear it out.

its same as disco and defender 1s are slightly different

Disco 200tdi engines cheap, but trying to find one that isnt shagged will be a challenge.
As said do head gasket easy enough.

Delighted to find, the Head Gasket was shot, right at the back of number four cylinder. Popping like a good un. All sorted and back together with a clean and tidy head, running great.
