Can anyone show a photo of one of these clearly sub-standard bosses? Never come across one and never heard of them and am just interested in seeing one.
A boss should be engineered to fit the column it is being fitted to, anything less is very poor in my opinion.

:D I bought the puller before the steering wheel - i'll wait for it to arrive and then do the job ;)
Might even do a before and after pic.......

So looking at that photo of the boss, is the hole not splined in any way to match the column? If not that is really nasty and not like anything I have come across before, how can a pair of grub-screws compare to a correctly fitting boss?

"just need the steering wheel puller now"

I had to dig mine out the other day when I was swopping wheels.
Made it over 12-years ago using a short section of flat bar, took less than 10-minutes to cut it to size and drill a couple of holes and it works perfectly. Beats hammering on the back of the wheel, you just tighten the bolt and even the most stubbon wheel just lifts off. Can't use it on the Mountney boss so resorted to a puller for that, a real snug fit but that too slid off after some pressure was applied.

Well the jobs done! :)
The new wheel looks and feels very good!
Fits perfectly to the steering column with no need to trim the plastics :)

Before and after pics :)

nice one, Ive got a new wheel on the xmas list, about the only thing I want that I can actually get the wife to buy.
other bits (like snorkel after defender11069 gave me a brown trouser moment last time we were out laning) are on the buy it yerself list!!

The steering wheel and boss kit that i bought worked out at £52 with next day delivery :)
The centre of the wheel is also a horn push so might wire it up so the horn works off the stalk and steering wheel.

Yeah it was. Basically it seems they make various bosses with different splines. The splines section fits inside the main body and was screwed in. Dunno how mine got through production
