Hi, I'm new to the forum - wish I'd found it sooner before rebuilding the Lightweight. Anyhow, it's up to MOT standard and I'm just sorting out niggles....

I've fabricated a new dash (full bulkhead width) and with that, a new instrument console that fits central to the driver as opposed to central to the vehicle. Whilst re-doing the dash I decide to upgrade the guages, specifically the water temp and fuel to separate ones out of a 90/110 however I am now not getting the correct readings. The problems are:

- The Temp guage (I know it has it's own voltage stabilizer built in) sits just below the Red when the engine is at normal operating temp - is this a sender problem, and does anyone know which sender to use? (fits into a 2.25 petrol)

- The fuel guage registers just above empty all the time; the tank has been 1/4 full and marked at 3/4 full too, but the needle doesn move. I have a Series III sender too....

Anyone done this before and know a remedy?

Cheers,

Dave

Yeah, but then yer 'sposed ter match yer frunt end wiv the rest of the motor, but some eejuts dun't. ;)

Thanks, I know I have to match my senders with my gauges - so back to the original question....does anyone know which senders/how to?

Ta,

Dave

The guages both came from the same vehicle (which is always a good start) - both from a late '90s, 200 TDi ....

thanks, Dave.

Thanks for the replies so far; fettling has sorted out a couple of things...... the fuel guage was earthing on the dash; once isolated it read accurately. The water temp guage needed isolating and now reads to the top end of the scale. Whilst the Kenlowe kicks in (and i know the temp) I'm gonna leave it like this and play with different senders over the coming months...

Thanks anyhow.

Dave
