Hi,

I've been going through other threads and can't find anything that is the same for the trouble i'm having.
We've put a new wiring loom on, just from the front to back as my fella accidently grinded through it
Since we have put this on, the landy won't start.
You can heat the glow plugs then turn to start it up but the relay clicks and the handbrake light comes on (this isn't lit when igination is engaged). The fuses are all ok.
It might be something simple that we've connected the wrong wire to the original loom but i can't make heads or tails of the haynes manual wiring diagram as the colour wires don't seem to match anything on the landy.
Cheers
Sarah

is engine/transmission well earthed to chassis and body well earthed to chassis and chassis well earthed to battery

I wonder if the wire that illuminates the handbrake warning light should be attached to the small terminal on starter solenoid, the other thought is when he cut through with the grinder, the starter engaged and has stuck.

jamesmartin - I'll have to check that its earthed properly in the morning. I did have a quick check and they looked ok but it probably would do harm with taking them off and cleaning as it was full of sand and soil underneath.
freelance - We did have it started after he'd cut the wire but since we've been disconnecting and reconnecting wires, we've forgotten which go where. It's our own fault for not labelling properly.

You can always run a jump lead to test straight from the starter to the battery to check how good your existing earth contacts are

Wire for starter relay earth. It goes to the bulkhead near the fuel filter and earth's there with the fuel sender earth I believe...
