Hi guys,

I'm pretty car savvy and can do general maintenance on my cars but am
a complete newbie when it comes to suspensions. I recently had a Pro
Comp 4 inch lift kit and 32" BFGs installed on my 87 4runner (done at
Big O tires). Looks great, but has a really harsh ride and the front
end doesn't seem to give at all when I hit the smallest of bumps.

I ran into a mechanic the other day and he told me that the "bumper
stops" (or something like that) had no room between them and that's why
the ride was so harsh (my shocks were not being used to their
potential). He said that I could dial up the torsion bars (showed me
the nuts on the frame where to adjust) to increase the distance between
the bumper stops and get a softer ride up front (and give the truck a
couple more inches).

So, as a total newb who spent way too much at Big O, here are my
questions:

1) is this safe (I'm reading on this site that there is a danger of
torsion bars snapping)

2) will it help the harsh ride I have now

3) if it raises the front a little, what about the back?! the 4runner
was saggy on the old stock springs before I had the kit installed :-(

Thanks a bunch for any advice - sorry to pollute the group with such
newbish questions.
