My 6 bolt on my Defender is gone and I could source a 4 bolt but need to know if they are totally interchangeable in terms of all fittings before I get it shipped to me.

They off course have different part numbers but if they can be interchanged Im on it. Does anyone have this knowledge to share?

ps. Im actually on a trip in Mexco were Defender was never sold so this is quite urgent

i have just done this on my defender,,

i put in a disco 300 tdi engine and my 6 bolt box had different fittings as i had a defender 200 tdi engine b4..

i just took everyting of the disco and swapped it all over..

So the mounting is the same but I should then use the fittings from a discovery to connect it all together. Great information.

Another concern. Can I actually drive the vehicle without oil in the reservoir or do I need to top it of every day now since it is leaking? Do I do any damage or will I just get stronger arms? Does the mechanism need the oil for smoothing/cooling purposes as well?

Hope anyone can answer this one as well.
