sure i read somewhere you can blank the egr with a 5 pence piece but cant find it now, anyone help???

thanks

Pull off the connections and the vac pipe, stick a screw down the vac pipe to block it, job done.

Perhaps it said block the EGR FOR 5p.

ok sounds like it will work, but how come you can buy blanking kits if thats all that needs be done?

because some egr's block in the open position or don't form an effective seal and so dump crap into your inlet. for what it costs for a blanking plate i would just buy a good one and do the job once, do it right:D
avoid the ones that look like they are made from a coke tin though. they burn through

Because it's nice to get rid of all the rubbish under the bonnet and makes it all look a bit tidier.

On my 90 I have not bothered to take it off yet, I have the plate and I even have an old 300tdi EGR junction pipe which I cut the exhaust insertion pipe off and welded it up, cleaned it up, painted it, looks like the real thing! So I really ought get round to doing it.

Did it on the Disco though.

my plate is made from disco towing braket, an the ic top hose was made from a lenght of exhaust i got new. Total cost? Nuttin!

it was for my mate, got new gasket, plate and hose for £12 all done no hastle.

it does look better, like you say tidy it up abit
