4 speed zf auto problem!!!

just fitted a replacement box which came out of a running RR.
started fine
but i seem to have no drive or gearbok oil circulation. found this out by running her up and disconnecting cooler pipe oil should flow but none present. rechecked torque converter was on correct placement and is.
how do i know if torque converter is kaput?
any other ideas please?

then it is the pump that is 'kaput' this can happen if you incorrectly fitted the TC or incorrectly removed the old box.
