Are the series 3 6cylinder and 4cylider gearboxes different in anyway other than the bellhousing?!
Eg can i replace my 6cylinders gearbox with a gearbox from a 4 cylinder if i swop the bellhousings over?!!

the front bearing are in the bell housing which is also part of the gearbox casing, on the 6 cylinder and the ratios are different. According to this months LRW mag. your better off fixing the 6 cylinder box because by the time ya've stripped it down to get the bell housing to fit your half way to a complete overhaul any way.

if you need a six pot gearbox a mate of mine had two available for sale a couple of months ago , i can check for you if you like ...where are you based ...

i am in worthing deep south! but i off 2 hudersfield in next month to take my sis back to uni so shud b up your way!! ! if he still got them knocking about tho giv us a shout!
