Hi guys, I realise i have now posted this twice but thought it probably belong in this section more than the defender section. I have a 4.6 Rover V8 out of a Rangerover which was originally fitted to an auto box which i want to mate to a V8 R380 originally out of a disco which is going into a defender. Ordered a clutch for the V8 and it came with the release bearing built into the clutch pressure plate which is obviosuly different from the Disco R380 setup which has a seperate release bearing. My qustion is what is the easiest way to resolve this issue? Can the clutch fork in the R380 be changed so it will work with the rangy clutch or will i have to get a clutch for a 3.5 lump for a disco and use that? Cheers Pete

I'd say you'd want a clutch kit for the r380 box, a normal v8 clutch kit from a discovery 1 v8 say. If the 4.6 is anything like the 4.0 you need a little spigot push to fit into the end of the crank to decrease the size for the r380 input to locate into

You will need the correct combination of:
Flywheel
Spiggot bearing
Clutch arm
Clutch arm pivot point
Clutch kit.

The components that were originally fitted to the donor disco will suffice as all Rover V8's are basically one giant lego kit. Although, you will need a new spiggot bush as these are not re-useable. Make sure you soak the phospher bronze spiggot bush in oil overnight as they wear out quickly otherwise.
