Hi guys,

Been a while since I've been on i know, but I sold the DSE and had a cheap estate for work. Things have now changed and I've bought a 4.6 HSE.

When I bought the car, it came with a ream of reciepts to show the engine had been re-built after the typical overheating issues. Tonight I have noticed that the heater matrix or O-Rings are leaking into the drivers footwell. Seems to be quit a substantial leak as well.

On my way home, the temp went to the red line. I killed the engine and it quickly dropped on start up. It soon moved back up though. However, when i killed the heater, the temp also went back to normal !!!!!

My question is. If the heater is leaking, could it be drawing the cooling effects from the engine away when the heater is on. When the heater fans were turned off the temp on the engine dropped. This would seem to confirm my suspicions, but I would like the thoughts of you guys?

Cheers in advance.

Rob

I can't see how that could happen. Any heat dissipation is cooling regardless of how it actually happens. Also when you kill the heater in the cab it doesn't close a valve on the cooling circuit it only alters the position of vents. Coolant is still flowing through the matrix.
