I have a 2002 4.4 v8 L322.
last week it got stuck in 2nd while towing but was fine later.
yesterday while not towing I got a Transmisn Temperature warning.
left it cool drove slowly home and was 200 meters from home stopped at a junction it cut out and couldent start

thinking it was fuel (the gauge dosent work so i fill the tank every 150 miles) i added a couple galons but still no joy, a friend towed me home.
looked at coolant water header tank and it has Oil in it so I am thinking the Oil cooler has failed mixing gearbox oil and water.

today when the car is cold it wont start it cranks but wont run but did briefly fire on easystart

gap IID gives the below codes what is it trying to tell me?

my plan is to replace the oil cooler for the gearbox, flush the water side till it runs clean, drain gearbox, replace gearbox filter, refill gearbox with oil, refill water system and antifreeze, replace gearbox oil and filter in about 1000 miles again?

What have I missed?

I am 99% sure that is a product of trying to start it a few times and it failing. a symptom not cause I think.
It fired on easy start which makes me lean away from a battery issue but I know how they can be on the L322 so I will get it on charge.

After you have charged the battery, clear the faults and see what comes back.

of course, do you know what the shown codes could mean if not linked to the battery?
I'm afraid I do not, I just know that they are the sort of faults that show up (along with many others) with low battery volts.
You will only know what are genuine faults when you have good battery volts and you have cleared and re-read the faults.

when the key is turned but engine not started does the fuel pump run for a brief time in the fuel tank?

Fix the cooler/oil issue, obviously...

but 11.9V is very flat. At least charge it fully, but check the voltage while cranking. It's quite possible you need a battery - it can cause all manner of issues. BMW E39's with the M62TU engine often have trans error on dud batteries. These cars EAT power when you turn the ignition on.

My Mrs 2.0 petrol VW had issues starting a few times a couple of weeks ago. The Battery was showing 11.9V, but would dip down to 8.x volts when cranking and no start. New battery, all sorted.
