Hi Guys
I am in the process of overhauling a genuine TVR 4.3 V8 engine - (engine code47A43P****)
The engine came from a Griffith 430 BV so has the biggest valves available, double springs, and originally had the wild TVR 885 cam - CR is 10.25 - has pocketed HC pistons etc.
TVR originally quoted 275 bhp and 310 ftlbs torque for the 4.3 engine - but the BV is something else!!!!!!
For those of you in the know you will understand this would have been a grade A block.
The engine had done 55000 miles, and was in superb order apart from a worn camshaft which is normal at this mileage given the aggressive profile.
The crank has been repolished, and all new bearings, shells etc have been fitted - the heads have been given an overhaul with valves re-seated etc.
The final assembly will take place following sale and choice of camshaft by the new owner.
The front end is the earlier V-belt type.
If you want it for a landrover or a classic car then we would recommend a real steel hurricane(auto) or tornado(manual) - this will give about 265 -270 bhp and 310 ftlbs of torque and has enough vaccuum to run with a carb - Edelbrock 500 and inlet can be supplied at cost.
For a wildcat racer or a sports car we would recommend the TVR 214(road) or 885(race), - 290 plus bhp - but will need fuel injection.
I am offering this superb engine, generally regarded as the best RV8 ever,
for £2350 in the following spec.
Real steel hurricane or tornado camshaft, new timing gear, lifters, pushrods, oil pump, water pump, fully assembled with top-grade gaskets and bolts etc running hotwire injection and ecu.
I can add the following - at cost.
New ancilliaries - good second hand items can be supplied at minimal cost.
Mark Adams Tornado ECU chip - 400 pounds - this makes the 4.3 run very smoothly and rlatively economically with a moderate cam.
Edelbrock inlet and 500 cfm carb and fuel pressure regulator with air cleaner - 700 pounds - fantastic in a cobra replica.
TVR 214camshaft - fast road - extra 50 pounds - runs with standard timing gear
TVR 885 camshaft - not for faint-hearted - requires vernier timing gear - extra 200 pounds over real steel item quoted above.
To get the best out of this engine a serious exhaust system will be required so please bear this in mind - I can advise on this.
Fitting can be arranged by a genuine V8 guru in sussex.
