Hello,

I am considering buying a Range Rover v8 on LPG but I am really not sure about how much this would cost to run with using LPG?? Also, I am looking to find a typical repair bill for a Range Rover.

Has anyone got a V8 LPG Range Rover and could you tell me how good it is?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Gavin

i have a 4.6 on lpg i get around 215miles on a tank of gas which is the spare wheel well type which costs between 25 to 28 pounds depending were i fill which is 70 litres hope this helps

Hi
I have a 4.6hse with sequential lpg system, its the second range rover i have had on gas the first being a 3.9 classic. I love them there brilliant to drive, i got 17mpg from the classic and 12mpg from the 4.6 p38. I pay .36ppl and have a 95ltr donut tank in the spare wheel well.
Hope this helps

You really make that much of a saving? That sounds like it would be cheaper to run than my current Volvo C70 T5 2.3 turbo!!

Does it just drive as normal when switched on lpg?

As a rule of thumb your weekly fuel costs will be about half that of petrol when you run on LPG.

As an added bonus some local authorities discount their local parking fees for LPG vehicles. In Sheffield a season ticket for parking with a certified LPG vehicle is something like £10.00 per annum.

Hi.
If you had lpg and i tried to sell you petrol, you'd never buy it.
It's Aberdovey and back in mid wales, all A & B roads or London and back on a tankfull (75ltr wheel well tank) and on the sequential type you can adjust injector timing for more perfermance.

Cheers, Nick,

Yes it does drive as normal, in fact my car actually runs smoother on lpg than petrol and with no loss of performance. I had a nissan x-trail for 18 months, it had a 2.0 petrol engine and i put £38.00 of petrol in a week, i do the same runs in this 4.6 on lpg and put in £21.00 a week.:D

I am right in that on a P38 you can't get the torpedo type tanks fitted for LPG only the spare wheel replacement type.
if so what is the largest tank that can be fitted in the spare wheel recess.

hi i am currently running a newly aquired p38a 4.6 with single point lpg system fitted by rpi engineering , it has an 80 lltr tank in the spare wheel well and runs ok but i think it needs tweaking and fine tuning , its not quite as responsive as my previous rangerover which was a 1994 classic lse , that was fantastic on gas , and very economical to run , even better than the diesel powered classics i have owned before .
i am a hgv mechanic by trade and it will peeve me no end to pay someone else to tune my lpg system , but at the end of the day if i cant get proper info on the system and more important exactly how it should be set up properly then thats the road i shall have to go down .
overall though i have to agree totally with nick that once you have owned an lpg powered range rover anything else just wont cut it for you :) .
btw a couple of years ago i owned a volvo t5r estate and although it was a flying machine it was also one of the thirstyest motors i have ever owned so yes an lpg rangerover will be more frugal fuel wise than a t5 .
