I have a 90 Soft-Top with a pickup tub, drop down tailgate and a swing-away spare wheel. Dies anyone have a solution for fitting a 3rd brake light?

I'm looking for something similar to a Freelander 1 setup where it sticks out above the spare wheel.

A NAS one is no good as my tailgate drops down as opposed to swings out.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Why not make a hoop shape, weld it onto your wheel carrier assuming it's a swingaway job and then mount the brake light onto that so it sticks up just above the top of your spare?

Not to sure what the crack is with the Gaylander one, but could you not get hold of one of them from a scrappy, E-blag or whatever and modify it:confused::confused::confused:

I think either of those suggestions could be the way forward but I was hoping for an 'off the shelf' solution as I'm by no means a fabricator!!

Good question, and to be fair I'm not sure that I need one however although I've got LED rear lights I just think having a 3rd brake light is safer and more modern....... Plus if I'm honest I am probably trying to replicate a NAS 90 on a budget!

In that photo, it looks like you allready have one in the clear section of your tilt!

Why not, get a bit of plate steel, drill the holes in it for it to fit over the spare wheel studs then bend it around and up so it pokes out behind and above the spare, then bolt an LED light to that. not much fab needed. a drill and a hammer, some wooden blocks to help bend the sheet. should do it. then just cable tie a length of conduit for the wires to run through and cut it into the rear offside brake light.
