Morning everyone...

I am just finishing a 300tdi into a 2.5TD chassis, and I have a question; The hoses I need to complete the job (oil, water, power steering, air). What length and internal diamter ones do I need to get her up and rolling again....?

Also, with regards to tyres, I have 265/70 Insa Turbo Rangers on all corners, but I would love 285/75 for the extra hiehgt and width. Will these larger yyres fit on the rims I have (don't know the size of the rim). I purchased these wheels from mailorder4x4.com and I presume they are standard sized rims...

All help will be greatly received!!
 
Tyres will fit, may need to trim arches, steering stop adjustment etc..hoses etc get a tapemeasure and look at a mates.
 
Sorry to hijack, I assume you had to relocate an engine chassis bracket?? do you have a photo or measurements?

Yes we did have to change the right hand chassis mount (from the driver's point of view). Grind off the existing mount, and make a new one with a horizontal top plate. The engine mount on the left hand side can be taken off the 2.5TD and bolted onto the 300TDI block. Use the two crew holes nearer the rear end of the engine (flywheel end)

The new rubber mount you need is part number NTC9416 (cheapest place I found was www.thexmod.com - genuine LR parts for bugger all money, £6.50 per rubber mount), so get one, screw it into the mount attached to the engine (part number ANR2868 for the RHS one) and then lower the engine into the bay and measure up the fabricated bracket next to the chassis where it needs to be welded. The fabricated bracket needs to be the same width as the rubber mount and about 4 inches out from the chassis wall. If you need pics of mine PM me with your email address and I will ping some over.

I don't have measurements as I used a spirit level and the engine as a guide. You can purchase a jig kit on eBay for about £90, but if you have a good eye you don't need one...

Cheers for the tyre advice, I thought they would but it is always best to ask, eh...

And all of my Landy mates have the 200TDI engine which is different I believe for most of the hoses and pipes etc... But I will measure. I was just being lazy and hoping someone out there has the measurements all written down, just waiting for me to open this thread...

Although I can't get them today, I have some from when I provided them to Richards Chassis for my new galv jobby. Mine was a 1989 td 90 with a 300tdi on the original lt77 box.

When I bought my 285 tyres I was told that although you can use a 7 inch rim (i presume thats what yours are) an 8 inch rim is advisable. Most of the hoses are easy to extend, I had to do the top and bottom hoses for the rad and intercooler as well as the oil cooler My PAS hoses are just long enough in their standard form, as is the Y-shaped pipe that goes to header tank, rad and thermostat housing. Yours may be different though.

Also, the flywheel/bell housing studs will not fit all the way round. The four studs at the bottom of the flywheel housing do not meet up with the holes in the L77 gearbox. So if you are keeping the old gearbox you will either have to drill out some holes in the gearbox lip, or new stub holes in the engine side and then use a tapping tool to make the correct thread and put a stud in it, or just leave them out as the bell housing does not contain any liquid, and there is a wading bung hole in the bottom anyway...

I left mine originally and it has been fine for 3 years. Once it's rebuild it will receive a lot more abuse so a couple of holes and bolts are on the to-do list.

That would be the better option, especially if you intend to abuse the crap out of your little beast...

I will do this myself on my next day off me thinks...

Sure I read somewhere but don't quote me when I did my 200 tdi conversion, that the flywheel housing off the 25 bolts onto the 300tdi as it did on the 200 so all bolts on lt77 gearbox bolt up, will see if I can find a linky;)

My one didn't... It's an easy fix but the studs on the flywheel housing do not marry up with the L77 gearbox housing...
