I have just joined bit of a long one I own a 300tdi discovery the cam belt sheared cause one of wheels slapped off I put new cam belt on with wheels but when started it it has trouble starting pops and bangs and smoke bellows out what could be the problem plz anyone

Have you checked the timing is correct?
Have you checked all the valves are straight?(& moving/closing correctly)

I'm guessing that you actually checked things like the pushrods before just sticking a belt on, so it's probably just that the timing is out.

You know about the plate on the front of the pump and turning it over a few times, right? Also that there's two grooves in the flywheel?
