Hi I've a 300TMI 1996 has this on looks like it should have a belt on but doesn't what is it? What dose it do? Why if it should isn't it attached help please

its an aircon compressor

As above. Belts are usually removed when the air-con is crapped out .. often due to the compressor crapping out too .. No point running something that's not working ..
