Looking at another 300tdi a 1998 S reg this one has a MAF sensor on it. what does a MAF sensor do as I thought all 300 auto had a mechanical pump so what can it adjust and do they cause any problems also does that engine have an ECU if so what does it control.

If it's an auto with a MAF sensor then it will have an EDC pump.

It will be electronic controlled furling. This can all be ditched if needed.
