does anyone know the operating temp of the switches and the thread sizes i'm trying to avoid taking them out and hoping to use them on my 110 300tdi conversion
thanks

You mean the sender? The 300 is a metric thread but I forget exactly what. The 200 is not metric.

I'm not sure what you're up to, but... If you're wanting to put a 300 into an earlier 110, you need to replace both the sender and the gauge as a pair. The green band (if the 300 was from a disco) or black band (if it was from a defender) sender will be no good with pre-300 gauges. The voltage / resistance is wrong and your needle will be all offset.

If you're installing a 3rd party system it should be fairly easy to find out the engine thread (which I realize is what you're asking here and I'm not answering!) but it's metric something or other. Which rules out loads of the Ali express offerings...

That doesnt make much sense IMO... what's your exact question?

I took "switches" (plural) to mean "sender" (singular).

To the OP -

If you want to get head temp, you can also reuse the EGR system pocket in the top of the head for a sender.

Question is confusing but maybe this might help

on my D1 300 tdi the aircon fans switch on when my temp sender 1 inch from there gets to 96 deg c

the in dash gauge isnt connected to those two sets of temp senders

ok at what temp do the switches activate/deactivate and what thread are they-so if the temp range is't what i want i can fit other generic ones
You have a link in reply nr. 5 for the only switch on the 300 tdi thermostat housing(for electric cooling fan), the other one is not a switch but a 1/8"x 27 NPTF variable sender for the gauge

i have already swapped ot tmp sender to an a degree scaled gauge but it is for a fan trigger switch
i have one in the bottom hose for it but previously i always used the top hose(not a lot of room though in the300 top hose)
the engine i have fitted had aircon and has two temp switches under the top hose elbow,i wa told one activated a fan and the other diconnected the aircon pump
so a normally closed and a normally open thermo switch'as i thik both are for aircon not engine cooling it would be prudent to know there operating range before assuming it will control my cooling fan
as at present i dont trust the temp gauge scale as yet and haven't got my old engine and gauge to make a tester that would go in the top thermostat housing plug
hope this explains what i'm trying to know without removing the housing and switches as i need the landy on the road for work

cheers so a standard 22x1.5 thread 115/110 tmp range n/c so that must be the ac pump shut down
i can swap that out for a 90/80 normally open and use it activate my fan relay

No. That switch is for the electric cooling fan operation to help engine cooling by activating the aircon fan if the engine becomes too hot when aircon is switched off, the aircon compressor's operation has nothing do with the coolant temperature whatsoever but as you say if you fit a lower temp switch there it would be ok for a cooling fan
