G'day all, not new just not been around for years however thankyou for letting me back. I'm starting a discussion on serpentine belt tensioner pulley main body. I can not find any thread about this and hope it's a great read. I recently installed a new expensive alternator with the smaller pulley and new shorter belt. SOOOO much pressure from the tensioner on the belt which in turn affected the water and power steering pump pulleys. I knew the power steering pump was old but water pump is fairly new with no wobble. Immediately a squeak sound was heard. I released the pressure on the belt and wobbled the water and steering pump pulleys. This showed the steering pulley had a wobble...so I replaced with cheap one (I can buy 3 cheap to 1 OEM Bosch) , super easy to change. I changed the tension pulley for new. Water pump is still ok. I still have a SQUEAK 😞. Interestingly the tensioner spring housing has grey grease oozing out. The housing rarely gives a problem and mine I replaced about 4 years ago. Also interesting is when I change the pulley and belt for larger all is ok and less tension on belt. These are both new "dayco" belts and both show ample gap between marks on tensioner for streched or rather not streched belts. Has anyone any thoughts on this.
