Morning

apart from at the gearbox, bulkhead and speedo is there anywhere else the speedo cable is fixed - e.g. to keep it following a particular path etc.....

Just trying to work out if I can do the job by just removing plate under cubby, or if I need to go somewhere where I can get underneath the defender to undo cable clips etc.

thanks

Does your cable not run from rear of speedometer, through bulkhead, down side of gearbox tunnel to tail of gearbox and then into the gearbox? That's the normal route. There should be no need to lift cubby box plate.

The fixing points should be through P-clips to gearbox tunnel near bellhousing, on side chassis or gearbox and then at tail of gearbox before entry into speedo drive. I've replaced all of mine with st/st rubber sleeved jobbies and st/st ntus & bolts :. no rusty fasteners.

Iirc they run down the left side of the gearbox, where they come out of the bulkhead they run past the back of the cyl head.
