before replacing the lift pump, I researched and came to the conclusion that no spacer should be fitted between the pump and the block. Happy days I thought until I removed my lift pump and found a home made WOODEN spacer hidden in the grime.
I have fitted the new pump an it's gone in fine, with slight resistance for the last quarter inch or so as I would expect.
Just wanted to confirm that no spacer is required.....
Just to confirm, the arm on the new Delphi pump is the same length as the one on the old pump.

300 Tdi does not have a spacer.
