The lift pump on our disco was a point of suspicion, when investigating sluggish performance, so, today, i fitted a new delph unit.

The delphi unit pumps from the manual lever when off the motor, but, as soon as its fitted, its as if the internal arm always keeps the external out of range, so i can no longer manually prime the filter.


This isnt just a cam issue. I pulsed, tried again, ran for a while, tried again, etc.etc.

In the end, as i could not get the olives to seal properly (with the imperial spanners i had to hand!) i swapped back to the old pump, primed by hand, and its all as good or as bad as it was when i started.


Has anyone else found this difference between the aftermarket ones (without the removable top / filter) and the delphi ones?


Could the lack of resistance, in my case, be that the manual lever no longer operates against a spring once the unit is fitted, and, as i was having air issues, it felt weak? Or are the delphis significantly different in this respect?
 
if cams in the right position it should pump ,but if its pulling in air it wont feel right, 9/16 spanners should do
 
gave up and put the old one back on... will fit the new one when i have more spanner power (i went through all my imperials, but none had enough power to crush the olive without slipping)

the old pump works, but im trying to trace sluggish running, and a new lift pump seemed to be a start point (after filters, lines etc)
