Can anyone tell me what the lever on the side of my 1998 disco 300tdi injection pump is for? A springed arm off the throttle arm goes thru it as can be seen in the picture. I did have an EGR valve but that has been removed and blanked off. The top end of the pump was off to replace the body seal and throttle spindle, the lever on the side had moved a bit when rebuilding but the engine runs fine. Just wondering if this lever has any impact on the running of the engine other than something to do with EGR valve which has been removed. I have tried a Web search but nothing definative comes up looks like no one knows what it's for. Any pointers greatly appreciated.
Thanks

That's not a lever, it is the return spring plate for the cruise control and can be moved and adjusted to suit the cruise control vacuum cable.
