Hi all
The issue mentioned above is due to fuel draining back to the tank. The spill line is airtight. Could this likely be caused by leaking NRV in the lift pump? Its an after market pump.
Thanks for any help.

Not sure if the 300tdi is the same but my 200tdi suffered a corroded steel pick up pipe inside the tank that had pinholes in it and would draw air when getting down below half a tank.

Sorted. Changed the lift pump to a Delphi and now no problem. She starts easily with low fuel level, even after standing for a week or so.
Previous pump was a piece of unbranded junk!

Even if it is now sorted and you went for the proper delphi pump I would potentially still buy a second pump to keep on the shelf as a spare. I treat them as more or less a service item as have found they only last between 1-2 years, which sounds bad but the bearmach/britpart ones last me about 4-6 weeks! I know I do high mileage (25-30k) ( have the same issue with uj's) but as it is known failure point and is quick and easy to swap over with the parts to hand it save waiting to source parts, and now you know the symptoms will be easier to identify next time it happens.
