Right a couple of weekends ago killajoules stutab and myself picked up a dead disco with a seized engine. Well it's melted a few Pistons. The exercise is simply to get it going cheaply so my old man can try an auto box disco see how gutless it is before jumping in and getting rid of his manual 300 as his left leg is Grammy after years of driving old trucks and series landies all his life.

So we have some melted Pistons, pushed out core plug, bores are coated in Ali. I was after something to dissolve the Ali or a way of removing it. It's a cheap and nasty justbtonteynas its MOTd til Janurary 2016 seems
Silly not to try and get it running but must be a cheap exercise. I think I can get some used Pistons (new rings) we have our suspicions the gearbox isn't great but it's just a try out for the old man to try an auto.

Ideas welcome.

Think you' ll have to scrape it off and finish with a de glazing tool in a drill, too much Ali will just stick in the stones otherwise

Was looking for caustic soda or something that eats Ali. Nasty as it sounds it might just get a drill and paper in there until it's ready to de glaze

Yea this is the next step it's not nice if I was to keep I would get it rebored and done properly it's only a tryout to test the gearbox. The disco is rusty but been repaired previously and has a load of new parts on it motd until Jan so will be a cheap run about test for the old man before he commits to getting an auto. Personally inthinknhe will hate it. The other option is to lower the clutch pedal in his disco maybe using a 200 pedal box instead so we can lower the pedal a fair whack
