I'm trying to fit a new exhaust system to my Defender 90 rebuild. Mine is a 1996 model and I think the exhaust system I have was fitted to 90 models between 1995 to 98. If you have a Defender of this age and you've kept the exhaust system standard I think you could help me, please.
Just to be sure, my system is: down pipe with CAT; centre silencer box; tail pipe out to behind rear wheel.
Could you take a picture of how the hanger that supports the back of the silencer box is attached to the chassis. (ie the end of the silencer box nearest the back of the vehicle)

Does this give you what you need? 1996 300tdi Defender 90. I'm just going out nto put some insulation tape on the wiring now. (and dig that mud out).

Sorry, mate. Its the hanger on the rear end of the silencer box.
Mine used to have mud like that :)

Does your box sit perpendicular to the chassis rail or parallel to it.
Many thanks for the pictures, this is great. But doesn't look like mine.

I've just been out to look at my chassis again. I have a that square section, that would take a hanger bracket, as in your picture above. But, mine is on the drivers side chassis rail. My pipe runs near the passenger side chassis rail. o_O

I'm just looking at the retro parts catalogue too. His is 4, 2 and 3. Mine is 4, 5 and 6

Cheers, James. I fancied a straight through down pipe. Mine came with a CAT originally and MOT regs now state that if a vehicle had one originally it has to have one for the MOT.
Is the YRM bracket a custom made one? I'm not sure I'll have holes to bolt it to. According to local LR specialist it should be bracket ESR2131?

Sorry, just got back from a swim. My rear box is perpendicular to the chassis rails. Hanging on the RH rail, Parallel and close to the rear cross member. It looks like we have different exhaust systems so my photos won't be much use to you. Sorry mate. :(

you will need to use rivnuts or similar if you have no holes,it does say esr2131 but that will only fit on the bracket in front of member, either center box got altered or bracket did over the years

Mines's a Richards Chassis, so maybe it's something they have not provided for?

Thanks for trying to help, mate. Really appreciate it. Looks like I've got a rare system.

I was trawling through my dismantle pictures again late last night and spotted the missing hanger in this picture.

It's just to the left of the crane strap. It certainly not bracket ESR2131, which looks like a pigs tail.
I've emailed YRM to see if their brackets fit a Richards Chassis. Hopefully, I can sort something from that.
Thanks for all the help, gents.
