Is the 300tdi reliant on the port at the back of the head, that runs to the heater matrix?

If that port was blocked off (not looped back, but blocked) would the cooling suffer?

Ie is it just a convenient take-off for the matrix, or is it actually required?

Why would you want to block it off? Surely just looping it round is the easiest thing to do and something you'll know can't cause any harm.

I want to fit a webasto heater. People generally seem to fit them in series, between the head, and the matrix.

I feel less than comfortable doing this, given that the circulation pump on them is restrictive (when not running) and could, i guess, block the flow entirely in the wrong situation.

So im asking what would happen if that port on the head was blocked.

Looking at the manual you may get away with it as it says a proportion of the flow goes to the heater, that indicates that there is still flow through the head by other means. However don't know if that means you may also get hot-spots in the head. Your choice!

it can be blocked off, a portion of the flow from the block through the head to thermostat housing is diverted to flow to the heater
