Hi, am currently sticking a disco 300tdi into my 1989 90. have sum issues with the wiring. Currently i have 4 big brown wires and the battery positive going to the starter motor however everytime i connect the battery the starter motor starts to spin but does not engage the flywheel. Probably got the wires completely wrong so if anyone could tell me which wires go where that would be great and any pictures wouldnt go amiss :D starter motor should be fine as it came out of a disco i bought that used to start. Cheers in advance Pete

the all brown wires are battery lives and shoud go to same connector as main battery wire ,the spade terminal of which they may be two so get rigth one will have wire with a stripe either brown/red or white/red

Thats how i have it at the moment and the starter is going crazy. should there be an earth strap on the starter motor housing? Cheers Pete

no as long as engine and transmission are ,either your solenoid is stuck on or have you got right spade terminal , solenoid should push gear into flywheeel ring gear when triggered ,are you using top terminal to bolt battery wires on nothing but wire to motor should go to bottom one

Yer thats how it is atm  starter worked fine when it came out the disco. pretty sure i got the right wire as its with the group of brown wires. could only see one spade terminal on the solenoid. any ideas?
