I got a compression test kit from Fourby. It states to remove glow plug and insert dummy.

Reading the workshop manual it says to remove the injector and fit dummy injector.

Can either method work? Is one better than the other?

How do you fit the dummy injector? I couldn't work out what to do with them - the actual injector doesn't have any threads holding it in place (just the clamp), but the dummy injectors seem to be threaded....

makes no difference most kits use the glow pug hole

Thanks.

Any hints on how to put in the dummy injector if I go that route?
why would it clearly doesnt fit, it may well fit early peugots and others with that type of injector, these kits are universal they tend not to cater for lr specifically but most cars, though luckily lr use common car glow plugs so im sure there will be a glow plug adapter to fit

And if you have a TD5 they only have 4 glow plugs but five cylinders.
300tdi.

My understanding of the Fourby kit was that it came with the correct dummy parts

Its got a 114mm dummy injector, 64mm and a 75mm. But they are all threaded one end with the gauge push fit at the other, so i dont understand how to install these

what is wrong with the glow plug adapter

I just like to know my options I can use the glow plug adaptor, but as I already pulled an injector I wanted to use that
unless you have the right clamped down adapter you cant, its unusual to do compression test through injector hole in any case

@jamesmartin thanks. I tested via the glow plugs and got values of 420 to 440psi. Seems a bit high as the manual suggests around 360.
Are my figures a concern?
