Had my 300tdi Auto 'chipped' today and on my god what a difference.

The mod has been done with towing in mind so has concentrated on torque instead of acceleration but I'm not moaning. Picks up great from standing and it's nice to feel pick up from cruising speed.

Completely transformed the car.

Hopefully an uprated drop in intercooler from Bell Auto's will arrive tomorrow so I can fit that over the weekend and increase this smile even more.

Would I see even more improvement if I got rid of the cat downpipe ?

Am I right in thinking that a Defender 90 down pipe will fit ? If so what model and year - My disco is a 1998 300tdi auto.

Many thanks

Mark ( The one with the big smile )

as for the cat downpipe, yes you wil see one hell of a difference but the main difference you will see is a fail ticket at mot time ;)

Didn't think the CAT made any difference on a diesel MOT !!!

As long as the emmisions is less than 3% on a turbo diesel the cat is not needed for the derv cars. ONLY petrol cars its a must.

@ spectrum 418 your cooler went off today for a next day delivery so you should have b4 dinner tomorrow.

so this will be a nice end to your chipping job and keep the inlet temps down and the engine breathing more easely, you wont notice a difference like you did with the chiping, The cooler will just compliment the chip and help when the car is under hard loads.

Is the defender 90 down pipe a straight swop, if so which model would I need eg. Defender 90 300tdi 1998 etc.

no its not as far as i know,,, i think the autos front pipe is different.

it may be easer to have the cat removed and a pipe welded in at your local garage..
