Hi,

I have a 1998 300tdi. All the doors are locking fine except the passenger door. When I activate the central locking it's as if the car fights back and snaps the lock back to open although the actuator appears to be working fine.

The same problem happened about two months ago so I removed the door panel and gave a quick spray of WD40 and all was well. I tried that again today but it hasn't worked.

Do I need to get a new actuator or could it be something else ?

There is a small spring in the lock unit (circular) that breaks.Until recently that meant a replacement unit(£60) I hear it is now possible to buy the spring alone.Still a fiddly job tho`. The door has to be stripped inc.removing top frame & glass.Good luck.Bin there done that etc....mucky`un.

Hiya,
I believe this is a common problem with the locks on the Discovery's and Range Rovers.
You can get the spring from ebay for less than a fiver. Just type in:
"Land Rover Discovery Door Lock Latch Repair Spring" and that'll bring it straight up.

The spring does seem like a good idea but is it an easy diy job
I am not very practical and wouldnt want to cock it up!
