Hello All!

I've just bought a 1997 Discovery (for not a lot of pennies), has the 300tdi engine. It had been sat for about a year, it starts first time everytime, doesn't smoke at idle, doesn't overheat either. When It is revved up it smokes blue, the harder you rev the more smoke you get. Back down to idle, no smoke. It's not chuffing out of the oil cap either.

I was thinking either turbo or head gasket?

Any ideas?

Thanks

mine does this to an extent, blue smoke when cold if you rev high in first gear then let off the pedal completely. will do it once then thats it, i had a feeling its maybe some oil in the turbo/exhaust system and its just burning off as its only doing it when cold

Seems to have stopped, it had been sat for about a year. Gave it a once over and then a blast down the road, the blue smoke has stopped but was throwing out quite a bit of black smoke which I found to be the pipe from the turbo to the fuel pump being disconnected!

Cheers all for suggestions!

Still having this issue, only when the engine isn't under load and about 2k revs. Under that it runs smooth, as soon as it gets towards and over 2k it starts to feel rough then the smoke out the back starts.
