Assuming that you are talking about engine oil, you'll need 8ltrs of 10w-40 semi synth oil of good quality oil.

Go with shell or texco diesel rated regular oil for your motor type, If you have a racing engine or a brand new motor then maybe a sinethic type oil

Cheers guys, yeah I meant engine oil, oops.

112k on the clock if that helps

Not used for racing or working really, just used like a car and for oveer fields, not climbing etc

I did mine today and after a lot of research online I went with a 10w/40 semi synthetic rather than the standard 15w40 mineral.

I put 6 litres in, not 8. my drive is on an incline but I had read the capacity is 6 litres and it seemed ok, was just above the low mark with the car on a slight uphill. Will check it when i get chance somewhere flat.

Sounds much better now, although only 4 litres of old oil came out so it was very low!

I buy 10w40 semi in bulk (20/25L) works out around £45-55 so only around £2 a litre. You then have enough for a couple of changes and some left over to top it up in between :D

think the book states about 6.7l but I just tend to buy a couple of 4/5l tubs and have some spare for topping it up until the next oil change.

Likewise bulk buy.Generally I put in 6 lts and see how that looks when it settles, then add any appropriate amount.Im not going to get into "what type" as this subject has been done to death on here.

The quantity depends on whether you are doing an oil change or an oil and filter change. Obviously the latter needs more oil.

Good point BL....but with the cost of filters (minimal) why do one without the other ? Though I am sure it happens often enough....

I am very lucky in that the vehicles that I have leak so much oil that they have,in effect, a constant rolling oil change......

It's actually 6.7 litres including a filter change, not 8 litres. That's what's quoted in the Haynes manual, and I've always stuck to that.

I get 20 ltrs ordered on account so it costs my boss.i use what truck needs then i keep the rest for the disco. Fuchs oil.10 40

I just changed the engine also the rad got changed and took the sump off so the system was totally empty I got my usual 7 litres it didnt register on the dipstick The extra litre or so quoted in the manual must be totally from dry

I just got 20 ltr 10w 40 semi synthetic triple qx engine oil off ebay delivered for £38.00!
Worked out at £1.89 per litre. Should do me for a while :)
