can i remove the R380 and replace for a ZF box as long as i have the selector and kick down link? are the transfer boxes the same for the manual/auto?

Sorry i dont know but personally i wouldnt as the autos can be sluggish.
It may be cheaper in the long run to buy an auto as i would think there is more to it than just fitting a box. You probably need pedal box as well and all sorts of electrics maybe the ECU or BCM and of course the centre console will need changing.

No ECU etc on the ZF autobox in a 300Tdi.

However,....the flex plate and associated bits can be hard to find for a Tdi auto, there are not many of them :)

Hi Andy, what is the flex plate? Also do you now of any schematics/diagrams of the 300tdiauto engine gearbox assembly?

I noticed on the auto box i have got from ebay that there is a inductive sensor on the bell housing and a plate with four metal pins that goes on the flywheel, thought these may be for the engine speed on the later ecu driven 300tdi (mine is an early 300).
