Has anyone fitted a 300 tdi into a td 5 chassis, I’ve been given a new td5 galvanised chassis for my old off-roader and looking, measuring etc the only problem I can see are the mounts I don’t want to start cutting and welding the old mounts on the new one unless I have to
Just hoping someone has done this or someone makes mounts that just bolt on

I did something similar in the past on my old 90. Put a 300tdi into a galv V8 chassis. Not sure what the mounts are like on the defender td5, but I bolted a 10/12mm plate to the chassis mount then screwed the rubber mount to it which lined up to the engine mount bracket.
Was a bit tight getting the oil filter out though, guaranteed to get covered in oil.
Do you have any pics of the new chassis mounts?

I assume it is a defender chassis?

I would expect everything except the engine mounts to be the same. The TD5 mounts are massive compared with the 300tdi.
If you can weld, welding on 300tdi mounts is probably the simplest answer, or find a rotten Discovery II and chuck a TD5 in it.

Fuel tanks are also different ,td5 had a plastic tank and an electric fuel pump, tdi has steel tank
