Hello

My wife's been putting up with the 3 amigos on her Freelander for some time. Having read comments about loose wiring under the gear stick, I had a look and discovered exactly that. Having now consulted a Haynes manual it appears that the wires in question should be connected to the hill descent switch on the gear stick.

I'll look out my soldering iron and sort this (I've removed the actual switch and connector so I can do this indoors) - however I'm curious to know from anyone else who has done this whether I should expect this to fix the 3 amigos instantly or whether the lights will need to be manually reset (or need a number of engine restarts before the reset). I did try connecting the two loose wires manually and starting the engine but the lights were still on - although admittedly this was just with the wires held together by hand and not with a good soldering connection.

if this is the cause of your problems, the lights will self extinguish. might also want to look at brake light switch on brake pedal
