The V8 is in the series - hurray

Runs fine but only on 7 cylinders. No1 doesn't fire up. I'm thinking valve or cam. Before I take the whole thing apart does any one have any bright ideas on what else I could check?

So far....
The spark plug is dark but not oily
I've changed all the spark plugs and the HT leads also checked for spark at the plugs and spark lead etc and everything checks out. So then I thought it must be the injector (it's be standing for a year) so I did the ECU check and it's fine. Next I took it off the fuel rail - there is fuel at the head - and it the injector looked ok. I pulsed it while putting some low pressure air through and it spat a little fuel on the floor so think it must be ok. The terminals seemed a little corroded in the plug where some water had got in so I cleaned those up too. Put it all back together

Still running on 7.......

Can I check the plug on the injector is ok? Would a back connection show up in the resistance test?

Like I said - before I start stripping it apart - any ideas?

Compression ok?
Plugs already changed so I guess it isn't one thats faulty n youre not getting coolant in cylinder 1, otherwise the plug would be 'clean' looking....(had both these issues with an old 3.5Efi I had)

Fault reading the ECU shows no fault??
The things like cap n rotor have been changed when u changed the plug n HT leads?? (have had faulty caps in the past too)

I tested one cylinder for fuel by doing the compression test without using the tester. easy way to see if fuel is going into cylinder.
Also have you done a compression test? Any odd noises from engine near that cylinder?

I haven't done a compression test - can't find my tester anywhere (must have lent it to someone) so I'll get another next week. How do you do a compression test without a gauge by the way? thumb over the hole?

No odd noises anywhere, the multimeter test for volts and resistance (via the ECU plug) all come out ok. If the plug to the injector was faulty, would that show up as a bad injector in the resistance?

any ideas?

put a test lamp into connector and crank

remove spark plug from suspect cylinder. Remove king lead from coil.
Crank engine and if fuel is getting through it will be ejected out of spark plug hole. Simple test to see if fuel is getting in.

Yea it is sparking, new plugs as well. I'll do the test lamp thing but I'm thinking valve or cam - such is life
