I am about to start wedging a 3.9 Efi of Discovery 300 vintage into my Series.

I know the ins and outs of all the gearbox options, I have done engine conversions before on classic cars.

The engine will be running on a single point LPG kit most of the time, so its performance on petrol isn't critical at this stage, although one day I would love to Megasquirt it, but at the moment cash limits (seems to me this would cost the best part of £1000)!

What I am concerned about is the implications of the fuel injection. The basic Hotwire system isn't too intimidating, however the thought of all the extras fitted to this Discovery is what worries me. Such as Cruise control, the immobilizer etc.

I so-far haven't found a wiring diagram that includes a Efi engine with an immobiliser, they're probably not online for a reason... I'm sure I can find one in a workshop manual.

Ideally I would like to keep the Lucas Efi, but junk all unnecessary parts of the loom if possible. Or would it be more sensible to stick carbs on it. Would I then have to get a electronic ignition ecu then?

If anyone has any experience putting one of these engines into an older vehicle then it would be much appreciated, or has managed to completely remove the immobiliser from a efi.

Are we looking at a V Belt or a Serp engine?

Neither are particularly complicated to work with, but the wiring is a little different between the two.
Fortunately the immobiliser system is completely separate from the engine management so it doesn't take much to get it running in something else.
