I self diagnosed a failing boost actuator for my FL2. Got all the signs so looking into a replacement. Ive just read however that you cant really replace them as there unique to the turbo??

Link here to where i read that - https://www.ecutesting.com/common-faults/land-rover/freelander-2-turbo-actuator-fault/

I just wanted to ask peoples experiences with this if you have any? Has a 2nd hand actuator worked for you or have you had problems after fitting one? Thing is this site quotes £200+ for a rebuild where as a 2nd hand one on ebay is 85 - £100...
Thanks in advance for any info!!

The turbo parameters are stored in the actuator (upper and lower limits etc) and depending on the variance in the turbo could cause over or under boost and associated warning lights.

Do you spend £85-£100 and the labour and hope for the best or do the job once with a warranty for £200+

That’s for you to decide and a tough one
