Come on I know some of you guys had a second battery with a split charger, where have you managed to hide it?

Just in the stage of cleaning up my rusted battery seat box, added a nice isolator and now want to add a split charger with another battery..

Also kinda got addicted to hooking up some anderson plugs for the front and rear, and the smaller ones for things in the back like a fridge etc (plug and play!)

i was thinking the same for an 85AH AGM Leisure battery i took out my motorhome when i replaced it with a larger one. was thinking about putting it next to the starter battery if there is space and hooking up a split charge then running 12v to the back for lights, chargers etc. and also going to add a solar panel to the roof for proper offgrid.

Always fit a fuse to the power supply for the external anderson plugs, just in case some smart arse decides to short them out!

It depends what batteries you are thinking of fitting. A red and a yellow small Optima battery can fit in the battery box along with a decent (proper) split charge system and that combination will suit most needs

You can fit two batteries in the seatbox.

Secured using 2 oem brackets

Personally never bothered with VSR relays as its just to run my fridge/derv heater both of which have their own cut offs.

Ran this way for 6 years without issue. I did however run an additional earth from the second battery to the chassis

i have two batteries in the battery tray in my 90. However, I don’t really need them so I’ll replace both with a single larger battery.

nice setup, is the tray for flattening out the floor in the battery compartment? cheers
It's pretty solid, it's from devon4x4, i googled the batteries and even watched a youtube video of the factory making them in the USA.. but yeah it depends on which battery tray you have also.. mine has a slant on one side so this fits perfectly.. and the dual setup.. deffo recommend this battery tray (they do both types, for slanted and straight)

Looks good. I’ve just bought a larger single battery to replace the old split charge and smaller pair of batteries in my 90 but I might consider what you have done longer term.

Take a look at this video if you ever decide to take a look at these batteries -

Will update you guys in a few days with my full wiring + split charger setup, got 2 relays to activate winch / anderson plugs also, so will showcase the battery box (ignore the rough black truck liner paint, its just my rough coat to go under the lining)
