Hello all,

Which grease is recommended to spray between the leaves of my suspension springs, is basic cheapo stuff ok or do I need silicon, PTFE etc etc?

Cheers,

Nev.

when i was youg people used to put thick grease into and around spring and bind in canvas or such ,some people think greasing attracts dirt and can caues wear between leaves ,most i see are dry but waxoyl is good i think

ive never put anything on my springs. I reckon because of the amount of fine sand I go through, it would perhaps just stick and create a grinding paste?

I mix old oil, engine , gearbox, w.h.y. with a bit of petrol and liberally spray the springs . The theory is that the petrol makes the mixture creep into the spring leaves and then evaporates leaving the oil there. Been working for me for years, on all kinds of vehicles not just landies.

You're welcome, by the way...:nopics: one or two of your Landy would be nice.

She's not a pretty sight! I've got her on the road now I've finally got the 12j engine in her (with R/R diffs she goes well) but she still needs some cosmetic work.
The bulkhead needs some repairs (I have panels being made at the moment) but worst of all in my eyes is the fact that someone attacked her with a pot of yellow paint and a yard brush (yuk).
My plan is to mount another attack with Nitromors and a pressure washer, then give her a new coat of green.

Maybe then pics will be forthcoming.:)

Go on, post some before and after pic's. We could all have a laugh at the yard brush yellow paint job and then be impressed by your new shiny paintwork
