Hi guys

We have recently bought a set of modular wheels to fit a set of insa turbo special tracks to 265 / 75 x 16 but our 1988 90 has 300tdi style alloys fitted with wheel spaces aswell and just need to know will we need to remove the wheel spacers before fitting the modulars and tyres or can we keep the wheel spacers on :)

keep em on we are going to fit modulars with same tyres n have 30mm spacers on ours but you might need wider wheel arches :D

Hi Rattler,
Leave em on - Got no spacers on mine, and have now rubbed the inner tread off... haha. I didn't want the spacers as there's more stress on wheel bearings; however is it as bad as I think it'll be? I don't wanna be replacing wheel bearings every couple of months! I know they're cheap. But I'm lazy. haha.
Thanks, Zach

I've ran 30mm spacers for two years now with insa turbo's and all my bearings are still perfect. It's a load of cod what people say about them, the bearings are built to a high standard and can cope quite happily.
It's only really when you run 60mm spacers and giving you truck a good thrashing every time you go out they will eventually decide they want to be a cabbage instead of a bearing...

Cheers Maxyman! I shall invest in some before a new set of tyres go on then! I like the idea of a bit more stability with my lift as well... Whats the legal limit for tyres sticking out past arches? None?

Sorry for thread highjack Cornish!

Tyre walls yes Treaded part of tyre NO!!

Cheers Pikey - draw enough attention to myself with a straight through exhaust as it is. Don't want to give plod an excuse to give me points!

You only live once lol.
Plod near me don't care much about our modded up landys, there more focused on little chavy peougots giving it large round the local car park..

haha it's pretty quiet down here and not many places to go... plod even drive the byways - quite regularly bump into them :( Only got one 4x4 club, with monthly meetings - which is no where near enough off roading for me :D I try to make it to pay and plays in chichester, box grove and slindon safari but ferry is expensive which is a pain. I just want a nice big forest to go and get lost in! :D :D :D

that's good fun as I have a legal one near me which is great
very bad when things go wrong though last time I got stuck nearly on my side, flattend the battery winching, and engine cooked until header tank exploded ! in all fairness the TDI was fine with fresh coolant has had no issues since :)

Sounds awesome fun! Is it a big forest? and that's unlucky, good ol' TDIs! I've not got a winch yet... normally go out with a mate on the off chance we might be able to get stuck somewhere lol.
