Looking for assistance.

I have bought a discovery 4 2016 chassis, expecting the car to have the same engine within. I am now 8 different water pumps in from all years from 2012 to 2016 and none fit.

Have taken it to various ‘specialist’s’, including Landrover themselves and have had feed back I have a 2012 engine in the vehicle and yet the water pump apparently still does not fit.

Do any of you experts know of any physical distinguishing points that would conclusively state what engine I have?

Currently at a loss both mentally and financially.

To add to the issues, there is no engine number on the block.

Hi

Ur 2012 engine will be a gen 1 and ur 2016 is a gen 2 engine and are different I’m afraid

Won’t totally honest with u as not owning a D4 not up to speed of the physical differences between by just looking at the block

Will however look through some of my saved bookmarks to see if there’s anything in there for u

So found a full list of how some parts can be interchanged and others can’t between the engines

However here’s some basic ones for u

Turbochargers

Gen 1 turbos are oil-cooled

Gen 2 turbo use a water cooling system.

Oil Pump

Gen 1 block does not have oil sensing port.

Water Pump

Gen 1 pump cannot be used.on gen 2
Physical and electrical incompatibility. Gen 2 pump required.

Plus the canbus speed is different between the x 2

Hope this helps

That is a casting number, and not an engine number.

You could try a little acid on where the engine number should be and see if anything shows up.

Any pics of your pump and the incorrect pumps?
