Has anyone owned a classic with a TDI, and one with a V8? Clearly the output of the TDI is much lower, but anyone got any views or know how do they compare in low end grunt, pulling power and off-roading?

I've only off-roaded with my 3.9 and it pulls Toyotas out of pretty much anything.

Cheers

Diesel if you like using low down pulling power slow climbs etc , v8 if you like noise , breakdowns in the wet , and buying shed loads of that petrol stuff !!
Derv every time !! V8 are good in dragsters etc !!!!!

I use a 200tdi prefer it over petrols for reliability, far cheaper to run and iv never been short of power yet.

I had classic rangiesssss with v8 and tweaked 200tdi--- diesel was better it has to be said, even sounded better when revving with straight through exhaust

200 better than 300!!
We repair loads more 300 than 200!!
A 200 will live longer and stronger than the 300!! No electronics ,no egr ,no serpentine belt!! The crank in a 19j is the same as a 200 ,cheap to rebuild !!!
No brainier !!!!! It's just our personal choice !
